Der Glöckner von Notre-Dame was a theatrical production presented in the summer of 2024, with more than ten performances at the Ekhof Theater in Gotha and within the Sonnentor Theaterfestival. Based on Victor Hugo’s novel Notre-Dame de Paris, the play was adapted for this production by Jens Wassermann and directed by Robert Frank.
I took part in the project as Musical Director and performing musician, appearing on stage as a Gypsy musician and in a small acting role as a soldier. I performed on violin, guitar and mandolin, shaping a musical concept that combined Johann Sebastian Bach’s works for solo violin, a Cuban song, and original miniatures composed especially for this production. The music was conceived as an integral part of the dramatic narrative, supporting both the historical atmosphere of the play and its emotional development.
